There is nothing more precious and more elegant way of sealing a groom’s love to his bride than by complimenting it with diamond bridal sets. You can choose a genuine and authentic set for your bride by following the 4Cs for diamonds.

The first C is known as cut. It refers to the shape of the diamond that is described as the general outward appearance of the stone. It should not be contextually confused with the fancy shapes, a diamond’s cut pertains to the diamond’s reflective qualities. The cut of diamonds need the almost perfect craftsmanship of artisans. He must cut the diamonds into the best proportions to make good refraction of light from the facets of the stone. Too deep cuts result in the escape of light from opposite sides of the diamond. Too shallow cuts result in the escape of light in the bottom of the diamond before light is reflected. The artisan must also cut the diamonds with the most defined symmetry to result in maximum brilliance.

Cuts are important to diamond bridal sets that are commonly consisted of diamond engagement rings adorned with multiple precious stones. Cuts influence the choice of couples when it comes to buying wedding jewelries. The cuts of diamonds that are available are round, princess, marquise, oval, pear-shaped, radiant, heart-shaped, and Asscher-cut diamonds.

The second C that is also an important influence when choosing diamond jewelry sets is clarity. A diamond’s clarity signifies its purity. It is a well-known fact that diamonds are mined and extracted from carbon deposits deep the earth. Therefore, it cannot be avoided that there could be minute traces of other natural elements that are trapped inside them. These minute traces are referred to as inclusions or in sometimes birthmarks because they are formed naturally and provide a unique characteristic for each diamond piece.

Birthmarks may include natural flaws such as trapped air bubbles, cracks and other naturally occurring elements or minerals. As diamonds go through cutting process, they may incur blemishes such as pits and chips. Diamonds with few birthmarks are more extremely valued than diamonds with less clarity. Diamonds with few birthmarks or none at all are rare possessions to have.

The third C that shall also be given emphasis when choosing diamond jewelry sets is the color. This characteristic of diamonds is entirely established by nature. Jeweler’s rule has it that diamonds that are close to being colorless are more valuable and viewed as more beautiful. Jewelers use color grades with D, E, and F considered as colorless and rare.

The fourth C associated with diamonds is the carat. It pertains to the weight of the diamond with each carat equivalent to 100 points. Following this point system, ½ carat diamond ring can be referred also as a 50-point diamond ring.

The 4Cs of diamonds makes novice buyers find difficulty in choosing diamonds. This is the very same dilemma that can be experienced by couples-to-be. The 4Cs are interconnected with each other, creating a pun of a fifth C which means complexity.

The higher the carat of a diamond is does not always mean that it is more expensive. There are high-carat diamonds which are scantily cut and cannot match the beauty of low-carat diamonds which are beautifully and skillfully cut by an experienced artisan. In other cases, it may be cut well but nature endowed it with poor color and clarity. Therefore, careful consideration of the 4Cs is extremely important especially when buying diamond bridal sets. Remember, your wedding is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you don’t want to invest your money on diamond jewelries of poor quality.
